Playbook: DET

Key Plays:

  • HB Option
  • Posts (2 Setups)

HB Option:

  1. Fade the outside left WR
  2. Drag the left slot WR
  3. Whip route the TE


  1. Whip Route
  2. Drag
  3. TE Streak
  4. WR Fade



Setup 1:

  1. Fade the outside left WR
  2. Streak the right TE
  3. Whip route the left TE



  1. RB Angle
  2. TE Whip Route
  3. TE Streak
  4. Corner Route
  5. Fade Route


Setup 2:

  1. Fade the right TE
  2. Drag the left TE



  1. RB Angle
  2. Drag Route
  3. TE Fade Route
  4. Deep Post Route
  5. Corner Route


Curl Flat:

  1. Slant in the right TE
  2. Wheel route the RB
  3. Streak the left slot WR

Final Thoughts:

Overall, the DET playbook is another under the radar book with some nice plays. I broke down the Aggie corner route on our youtube channel a while back, and you also have the Corner N Go’s from the Snugs. This formation can be used as your base because you have a very effective four play combo that allows you to beat man, zone, and the blitz. At this point of the year, I am looking for formations that most players have not seen very often and this is one of them. By now, most people are familiar with Snugs, Bear Under, etc so to continue advancing our game, we need to look in a new direction.
