In this Madden 12 Tip, Duke breaks down how to run the Nickel 335 Flipped!

Playbook: Multiple

Key Plays:

  • 3 Man Under (2 Setups)
  • Monster Blitz
  • Cover 2
3 Man Under (B Gap Blitz):
  1. Show blitz
  2. Crash DL to the right
  3. Blitz down the MLB
  4. Spy the LDE (right of screen)
With this setup your going to want to man up the uncovered WR/TE with the FS. If the RB is uncovered, I don’t worry about manning him up, but I am aware of it because I will manually watch him myself if he goes out on a route.
3 Man Under (Coverage D):
  1. Show blitz
  2. Put the ROLB (no assignment) into a purple zone
  3. Put the RDE into a QB Spy
  4. Put the LDE into a purple zone
Monster Blitz:
  1. Show blitz
  2. Crash DL to the right
  3. Re-blitz  the MLB
  4. Spy the LDE (right of screen)
  5. Put the blitzing NB into coverage
Cover 2:
  1. Show blitz
  2. Crash DL to the right
  3. Blitz down the MLB and ROLB (left of screen)
  4. Spy the LDE (right of screen)
Final Thoughts:
If the offense starts to block the RB, leave the LDE blitzing instead of putting him into a QB spy. I love this scheme because of how flexible the coverage is in the 3 Man Under. You can really adjust well to any offense due to the unique ability of having man coverage with three deep zones including the outside right DB. You can playmaker these deep zones into whatever coverage you want. You can run the “B” gap pressure from any play in Nickel 335 Flipped, so you could use this concept in any playbook with the Nickel 335. However, Multiple is the only playbook with the 3 Man Under play in Madden 12.

Hey guys if anyone is curious I just edited the text setup to include crash the dl to the right. The video shows the correct setups but just wanted to make sure nobody is confused. I love this defense and have been running multiple because of it. The 335 is really effective and best of all I have not seen anyone run it this year yet!

Hey Duke, whenever I come out in the 3 man under play the unassigned guy is all over the place, how do you make it so that he is in the spot he needs to be all the time?

If the unassigned player is anywhere else, just hot blitz the ROLB (the player who was unassigned in my video) and then put the player who is unassigned into coverage.

I don’t have that info. You would need to fill out a support ticket and submit your eBook logins.
